Boca Grande Lighthouse - Gasparilla Island
Archaic steel beams reach toward the clouds, supporting a massive globe used to guide ships through Boca Grande Channel into Charlotte Harbor.
Standing 105 feet tall on Gasparilla Island on Florida's west coast, the corroded entrance door is marked with the year the light was reassembled on Gasparilla Island (1927). Put into service in 1932, the beacon is still in service today.
The rusting structure is scheduled to be restored by the Barrier Islands Parks Society. Worth the visit!
